Lokalportal is nominated for the “Vor Ort NRW“ media award
We have been nominated for the “Vor Ort NRW“ media award! The “Vor Ort NRW – LfM Foundation for Local Journalism“ asks with the prize: What will the digital local journalism of the future look like? It honors projects that stand for innovative and diverse local journalism in and from North Rhine Westphalia.
On Lokalportal.de users can find important news, useful information, as well as event information and insider tips from around the area – and can even write their own content and contribute. Thus Lokalportal connects the place, from the neighbour, over associations and journalists, to public places and local industries. Lokalportal founder Sebastian Penthin is pleased with the nomination: “It is a tribute to our path and our vision of a digital ecosystem for local content and local exchange.“
Lokalportal was founded in 2015 by Sebastian Penthin, Justin J. Hallauer and Marc Leuthardt. Since 2016, the “Neue Westfälische“ was the development partner of the startup. In the two pilots in Paderborn and Bünde, a cross-company team from Lokalportal and Neue Westfälische works at the “digital village“. “We are encouraged by the way we think of user-centered journalism at the neighbourhood level, says Alexander Drößler of the Neue Westfälische.
The jury of the “Vor Ort NRW“ award has nominated Lokalportal together with two other candidates in the category “new voices in the local“. Also nominated are the “Bürgerportal Bergisch Gladbach“ and the “Mindener Tageblatt“. In the category “Innovative format in the local“ projects of the “WAZ Duisburg“, “WAZ Bochum“ and the “Rheinische Post“ are on the nominee list. The award ceremony will take place on November 30th in Düsseldorf.
